Worth it?

I'm just wondering if this guitar http://cgi.****.com/ws/****ISAPI.dll...e=STRK:MEWA:IT is worth the $600?

Also, how do neck joint cracks affect a guitar and are they REALLY that bad?

I'm pretty sure you guys know to replace those **** with the dreaded word... "e-bhay"...

Re: Worth it?

You could have just posted the item number which people can then paste into the search box... but anyway, I just bought it. Thanks.

Hehe. Not really.

Looks good. I think it's worth it. Here's the item number, for anyone who wantes to take a look: 7424598515

I don't like flame tops, but that one is subtle. Regarding neck joint cracks, well these are normal for Ibanez guitars, they never affect playability, they're usually very small hairline cracks. Good find.

Re: Worth it?

What about item number: 150001237112 ?

Worth it? I'm just comparing and checking out my options because I mean... there is a HUGE price difference...

Re: Worth it?

Worth it, yeah definately, but $250 is only the starting bid. I have a particular soft spot for the old RG's such as 770 (especially in RED!), 550, 750, etc. They are my fave guitars. The thing is with the 770 we're talking about today is the neck wear. Maple boards on Ibanez always look bad after a few years, it's unavoidable, but if you're prepared to live with it, it's all good. Me, I'd go for the first guitar you linked to. Better condition, by the looks of it. But it all depends on the price that the 770 sells for. If it stays low, that's a real bargain. I'd put a new pickguard on it, probably a clear one, just as the originals had, and restore the guitar as much as possible. They are really great guitars. A bad condition one would annoy me, though.

Re: Worth it?

The fact that maple boards wear is part of the charm. Nothing like the look of a maple board that looks like you actually play it.

Re: Worth it?

Nah, I disagree. I have owned a few and they look rubbish, IMO. Buying somone elses worn neck is even worse. Like wearing someone's smelly socks! I won't buy maple anymore. Or socks.

@ Guitarslinger: Dude, $700 is quite cheap for that! It equates to about £350 in the UK -- a very reasonable price.

Re: Worth it?

I'd go for the DX, $700 is to much for the 570, unless it had a maple board..

I'd try to jump on this bad boy, nice clean 550:

Re: Worth it?

You really think $700 is too much? I'd pay that without question for such a guitar.

Re: Worth it?

search E-bay for them (don't forget to search the completed listings too) and you'll see they pritty much max out at around $400, is an extra $300 worth it for a AA grade (if that) flame top with no AANJ?

Re: Worth it?

I dunno, it's different here in the UK. You guys seem to want to pay less in the USA.

Because we are used to paying less

Me thinks $ 700 is too high, but if you have the money and want it that bad....well.......

Re: Worth it?

700 is only the Buy It Now price anyway. There are still no bids and little time left, it'll probably go for under 600.

But it's got a fatty ding in it.

I do say the RG770 looks promising and beautiful though. I'll just to wait to see if anybody jumps on it before bidding eh?
