Which would you have?

ESP EC-1000 or a Gibson Les Paul Studio?

And why?

Cheers.

Re: Which would you have?

If the ESP would be a ESP and not the ltd, i would go for the ESP and since i own a Eclipse as well as a Paul i know what i am talking about

Nicer made, better PU's , better Tuners, better neck (i think), if it has to be the LTD go with the Paul

EC-1000 is LTD. The ESP's are just called Eclipses.
I like the flat black and amber colored ones. Pretty sweet.

I'd go with the les paul. why buy a replica when you can get the real thing?

Re: Which would you have?

All ltd's are garbage, I also hate LP's but in this case it's the lesser of two evils.

Obviously I have seen the "LTD" on the headstock, but didn't know there was a difference really (maybe that based on the LTD's prices that they were the higher end models?).

What are the main differences?

Cheers.

LTDs are to ESP as Epiphone is to Gibson, basically

Re: Which would you have?

No contest. ESP LTD EC-1000.

Nearly all the Gibsons I have played have been distinctly average.
And at least with the ESP you get some nice finishes and a choice of pickups between Duncans and EMGs.

you can't throw something out there like that without stating "why".

to a minor extent, but you don't get as many different grades and feature differences from Epiphones as you do LTD's.

i don't own any LTD's but they are fine guitars. i like the neck more on the EC-1000 than i do the LP Studio. most LP Studios i've played have been very lackluster in finishing compared to the EC-1000s. the EC's are holding their value better from what i've seen on the 'Bay where the LP's are loosing $400-$500 on a regular basis on the average $1200 tags they fetch new when being sold as used.

That's not true. I have an LTD MC-600 Max Cavalera Signature and it sounds great. Neck-thru, really well made, and it sounds better than the SG's I've played.

Between an ESP (not LTD) and a LP Studio, I would go for the ESP. I love the Gibson Les Paul model, but it has to be at least the Standard.

I wasn't comparing the two, dude

I was just saying that LTD have the same realationship with ESP that Epiphone have with Gibson - parent companies 'n all that jazz.
