Wow I highly recommend the new RG655

I just got the new Purple RG655 with maple. This guitar has an amazing neck and fast fretboard. The neck is smooth and fast and feels almost Charvel like. This model is much better than the 2014 model I played at guitar center.

IMO, all of the new Prestige guitars are the best Ibanez has offered since 2002.

Yep looks like it, i wish they would offer this with a maple board in the UK or at least the EU, if not i might have to contact Rich and get him to sort me one out.

It's the UK importers who decide which guitars are imported to the UK, not the Japanese that refuse to send specific models.

The UK importers have sales figures telling them what sells and what doesn't and they act on those to stay in business...

And yes, importing privately from Rich is an amazing idea. Just make sure to get the best setup level he offers, it's simply unreal!

Re: Wow I highly recommend the new RG655

I played the blue 655 in andertons an it immediately made an impression on me!
I do not need one.........i want one!

I played it right after the blue rgit with the neck through. I really wanted one but it didn't feel nice.
The body/neck "join" was very nice indeed tho.

Is that your way of saying "the current Prestige models are almost as good as the late RG3120"?

Re: Wow I highly recommend the new RG655

I buckled and bought a rg655 today (in blue )
Never looking back. This thing is solid, the neck is insanely fast and east to play. Its like being on an ice rink and your fingers are the skates.
One thing i didnt expect to be to awesome, was the trem. It feels thick and heavy and i have tons more sustain and control over notes conpared to my original Floyd rose. Flat out kicks ass.

Same here in Brazil. If I'd see one with a maple fretboard, I imagine I'd have a sudden crise of GAS, because that'd be glorious.

That is acctually not correct.
It is Ibanez that decides what models are for USA and what are for Europe etc.
It is not the distributors that decides that, or even have much (or anything) to say about it.
They can sometimes get hold on USA models if they get a demand for it, but far from all the time. And they have to specifically ask for it, it is not offered to them otherwise.

But it is, as you say, sales figures that decides what goes where.
Maple boards just don't sell as good over here in Europe.
Many people on the net always say "that with a maple board and I would be all over it", but sales clearly show that they don't when it arrives with a maple board.
