...what is it? It's the one you are stuck with forever.

I am building my dream guitar and really don't have a lot of experience in this area. Your help is appreciated tremendously.

Pics will, of course, follow as parts arrive and project commences.

Hmmmm... thats a tough call. Looking for something versatile? Or just for a specific style or sound?

This seems like a real versatile humbucker... with P90 and single coil sound too. I've never actually tried one, but always thought it would be great for a single humbucker guitar.

Re: You have only 1 guitar, with 1 humbucker...

it's my thing, currently own 2 guitars with only bridge humbucker on it.

OK, IF I only have 1 guitar with one humbucker on it, what would I put in there?
I'll go with Super distortion.
I found it very versatile, and love the warm high end while playing high notes.
Also got push pull pot, and when you split it, it still nice for clean stuff ( I don't play clean stuff with splitted bridge humbucker too much actually).

I'd put a Duncan Perpetual Burn. Lead AND rhythm in one package, really nice pup

I'm just gonna get an alder-body guitar with a JB. Gonna make it versatile AND rock-oriented.

That's why I said pb. Pb is a little more output than jb, yet it can still do rock. Kinda like how the dimarzio at1 can do it all as well.

It doesn't have more output than a JB, I have no idea where you got that from. It has less output and less midrange honk. It's between a JB and a 59 Bridge.

that p-rails sounds like a good idea if held to one pickup

If I could bend the rules and add a coil split, it would be a Duncan hot rail (or cool rail).

If I can't, Gibson PAF Pro

If it's a one humbucker guitar I guess it would have to be an RG2610.
If I were restricted to one pickup it would be the Tone Zone.

AT-1. It does everything well.

Re: You have only 1 guitar, with 1 humbucker...

^^^^^^

Is the AT 1 basically like a PAF on clean mode, but something hotter (like a nice ceramic Evo humbucker via Steve Vai) when distorted?

Re: You have only 1 guitar, with 1 humbucker...

Good feedback, thanks. But AT-1 and P Rails is not specific - although I guess I could Google them...

And this guitar is coming from custom built parts, except for an old Floyd Rose from a Kramer...
