ZR Trem Identification

Just bought a used S470 off of ebay claiming to have the newer ZR trem system equipped, but also claiming to be 9 years old. However upon further inspection, I noticed that this particular guitar does not have the thumb screw tension adjuster that I've seen on all other ZR systems, but instead just a screw in the place where the thumb screw would be.

Is this actually a ZR trem system? Perhaps it is just an older model. I can't seem to find any info on the internet. Praying I didn't foolishly grab a Lo-TRS model... This is my first Ibanez and I'm kind of clueless as far as identifying these kinds of things goes.

Re: ZR Trem Identification

It is a ZR, but its a first gen, not last gen. Watch the arm holder, they're fragile, but they do ok if you don't hammer it, keep it tightened up, and replacements of better quality are available.

Re: ZR Trem Identification

That's good news I suppose. Never really planned on giving the arm too much grief, but I'll make sure to be cautious just in case. Any suggestions for replacements/where I can get them?

You can get the original kind from Rich, and the 3rd gen holders should retrofit too.

Or you could use a Floyd Rose arm (I do this, its much better than most other alternatives)

The third option is a guy named doobiz on youtube had a small stock of them made at a machine shop. His are the most robust option.
