Question 4 bend trem arm??

I hope this isn't a dumb question, I've searched all over and came up with nothing, hopefully someone can enlighten me here.

A while ago I came across a picture of an rg or J-custom I believe, can't remember the exact trem but I want to say edge or lo pro. It had a special trem arm that I didn't think too much about at the time but now it's imbedded in my mind and tugging at my curiosity. It came out of the trem as usual and immediately bent back and then across the rear of the bridge, then bent back in, down, and seemed to mount back onto the opposite side of the bridge. It was basically a handle which would allow you to push and pull the trem from the rear.

Can anyone shed some light on this, was it a special feature, or is this maybe a DIY job I could read more about? I just don't know exactly what to call it so all my search terms are getting me nowhere. Thanks -J

Re: 4 bend trem arm??

This is a 7 string K7 from Ibanez.
It comes with the U shaped bar and a regular one.
It has a trem arm socket on each side of the bridge.

Re: 4 bend trem arm??

It's been around maybe 10+ years now. I'm not exactly sure, but that sounds about right. It's still available today.

Dont know if you want to instal one as a replacement for a standard lo pro, just keep in mind you would have to re-route the tremelo cavity in order to make room for the upper socket of the tremelo.

Re: 4 bend trem arm??

Ooooh, seven string, that explains a lot. Well I was pretty much looking into it out of curiosity and as a possible option, but I'm out on that one since I have nothing but 6's. Thanks for the info, everyone!

It reminds me of times when I was without a bar and would palm down or pull up on the trem, of course it's really easy to knock fine tuners out of place that way. This design seems like it would be good for those who want a floating trem without the dangling bar. Sometimes I go a long time without using it, and often when I wanted to I'd have to stop and find the bar, wherever I stashed it.
