Cool 89 RG570 Neck Relief?

Hey guys. I've got an '89 rg550 and im havin' some neck troubles. The neck is a single action truss rod, meaning I can only tighten it to straighten or backbow the neck. It's winter time here, and I'm afraid the neck has dried out and I can't seem to get it to bow at all, it's become too straight. (zero relief) As a result, I've got buzzing issues from the 1st to the 5th fret.

Tried shimming the nut higher but that didn't do much. Also tried oiling the neck, and putting one of those little ceramic humidifiers in the case. The only way it's playable is to raise the bridge way up, which makes my action suffer. The neck is not twisted or warped.

Does anyone know any tricks to add some relief? Right now I'm experimenting by leaning my guitar the way you're taught to NEVER do, by leaning the neck up against the wall... maybe a bad idea, but the way I see it i WANT to add relief, and this may bow it slightly?

Wrong section, try Other Ibanez Guitars.

Hard to comment without actually seeing the guitar. I'd say its worth a trip to a local luthier. Maybe you have some lifted frets(not uncommon on some Ibanez necks). Maybe the fingerboard is lifting? Maybe a good fret level and crown would fix it. For setting nut height, I like to fret the strings at the 3rd(G) fret and look at the space between the string and the first fret. I like to see just enough space to slip in a few sheets of paper. If the string is touching the first fret, then the nut is too low.
