9's to 10's on standard nut...do I need to mod it?

(this must be on a previous topic, but I didn't find it )

I want to change the strings on my PGM from 9's to 10's. Do I need to have the nut modded? (I won't touch a nut file, dont worry )

Any comment is welcome since I know very little about standard nuts.

It depends on how wide the nut slots were cut to begin with. Generally, going to 10s won't be a problem. On my main 7-string, i didn't have to touch the nut slots until i went to .011 to .070, and even then, i think i only had to widen the bottom two or three slots.

Cool, I'll just change them and see what happens. Worst case is I have to take it to a tech to get the nut filed right?
