Anyone reliable doing swirls?

I asked this a while ago and didnt seem like there is anybody left. Anyone know if there is someone who is still reliable and trustworthy doing swirls? :/

Kind of sad that it's a dead art at this point.

Re: Anyone reliable doing swirls?

I saw a couple good ones not too long ago on eBay from Mai Guitar. The one he calls his Jupiter Swirl. Looked really great, only issue was that the guy selling it had done an amateur clearcoat on it.

But I have no idea if he commissions swirls or just sells completed ones. He has completed ones on eBay.

It certainly seems that the whole process, if done correctly, is very hazardous to one's health.

Re: Anyone reliable doing swirls?

My understanding is that the clear is what's really bad. I was told that even if you're using a proper respirator, you don't even want to get it on your skin. Most of the people doing this are not using the proper PPE. I know that both Al and Herc Fede had healtth issues related to swirling/painting guitars.

Before he flaked out and stole a bunch of money and guitars from people, Michael/Livewire actually was setting up a proper paint booth with correct ventilation and was using proper PPE in order to protect his health.

Re: Anyone reliable doing swirls?

There are a few of Al OOTS left at http://www.area51customs.co.uk/swirledbodies.html
Once these are gone thats it. I've already filled me boots

They really dont get much better than OOTS.

Re: Anyone reliable doing swirls?

The irony about Michael is that he was taking all the proper precautions to protect his health while painting, but then ultimately he stole peoples money to buy drugs.

Re: Anyone reliable doing swirls?

I Didn't think Al clear coated his! I thought the issues were simply solvents in the colours he used. That said I didn't have enough discussions with him to know for sure

I'd like to see Al and area 51 team up and get a proper booth set up with
LEV and so on to let them do it properly. All I need is that lottery win

Re: Anyone reliable doing swirls?

To answer Stealth's question though, no, no one left doing it commercially that I know of

Re: Anyone reliable doing swirls?

He did clear his own in the end because he couldn't get anyone to do it to his standards.

Re: Anyone reliable doing swirls?

So if I know a good clear, there's hope for me yet?

Now if Al will only tell me his swirl secrets, I'm good to go
