Bending the pickup switch?

I was wondering if it's possible to bend the pickup switch all of 90 downward so I can avoid hitting it when I'm in neck position? This would be an rg 1570. You could say I play sloppy.
Anybody done this or felt the need to do it? I realize it would have to be bent in exactly the right place for the switch to have full travel but I'm pretty confident with my skills, but just wonder if it would stress it too much. Does the tip come off easily, I don't think I've ever tried it? I figure the tip might have to be trimmed up too?

Nevermind, it was a piece of cake

And yes my volume is moved down to the tone position, I hate things in the way!

LOL... your the first person I've ever seen to even think about this, let alone doing it.

For me, the switch is usually too far away. It's interesting how much playing styles can vary.

Re: Bending the pickup switch?

Yeah I only found 1 thread on (I think) a telecaster forum in the few minutes I did a search for the issue.

I DO get it. In a way, it makes sense....... the question is:

Did it actually help?

Re: Bending the pickup switch?

Ya I think it will. I've been letting a dab of rubber cement dry in the tip so far but from holding it I think It'll be enough out of the way.

Re: Bending the pickup switch?

Well hopefully you don't have to replace the switch anytime soon as you will have to bend it back to remove it.

Are you still able to get the switch to engage all of the settings?

Re: Bending the pickup switch?

Yes, full access on switch. Glad I did it and should have long ago. Now I don't have to tell/convince myself that I only like to play in bridge
