Best way to clean tarnish on Edge Pro Cosmo Black

Hi all...

I got a used Ibby RG2610 and the Edge Pro trem has some tarnish, discoloration, and just beginning signs of minor pitting. What is the best method to clean it? And what sort of cleaner to use?

Thanks.

White vinegar. Make sure you clean afterward with water.

I like to disassemble the entire trem. Soak the hardware in WD40 and clean the cosmo parts with vinegar.

Should I disassemble everything and just soak all the cosmo black coated parts in white vinegar... Or just put some white vinegar on rag and wipe it down?

Don't soak. It's a weak acid and might harm the finish. I just wipe with a rap and use a toothbruch soaked in vinegar to get the crud out of the crevices.

Here's an older guitar I cleaned up recently.

Obviously the wear was there and can't be removed, but the hardware cleaned up really well overall.

Another product that works good on cosmo is naptha, especially if you have wax residue on it.

Thanks. This helped with my Cosmo bridge. I have a RBM that has a gold lo-pro-edge. Do you recommend anything different for the gold bridge?

Thanks again!

I remove mine and spray it down good with brake cleaner.

Funny observation
If this was a Les Paul forum that question would be
"How can I make my bridge tarnish more?"

I use Hoppies gun cleaning solvent.
And why would you use an acid, all be it weak, to clean what acid (sweat) caused in the first place?
Doesn't make sense.
