Won't that absolutely kill flutter setup that way?
I'd have to agree with that, though it is only speculation on my part. I'll just stick with my 3 spring/string equillibrium. I don't need another force to worry about

Bring back the BACKSTOP

Whenever you use a device that couter-acts the float (and thus also assist in in-tune bending) flutter and subtelty would be affected. When setting it up, you need to determine what is important.... trem subtelty or stability.

The more noticable the backstop (or tremsetter) is, the more you effect and lose the normal tremolo feel (without the device)... glen

Bring back the BACKSTOP

Tremsetter, backstop? These things look interesting... how do you get 'em?
Rich, the 2027 that I bought from you, the trem is stable as a rock! Double-stop bends... minimal movement of the trem. Almost fixed bridge feel and sound. I always stay in tune. It might not feel...er, subtle, although that doesn't seem to hamper my use of it in any way. I mean, I can still do deep dive bombs, or little shadings, each equally well. Maybe, just maybe! It's because I use such a low tuning? Extra tension needed to compensate? Well, if so, there's your answers fellas! Time to downtune and get heavy!

Bring back the BACKSTOP

Update: *Here is a copy of a mail sent to Rich:

Hi Rich, I got the backstop last week and put it in. *After some tweaking, it works great. *I can do
the lift-the-guitar-by-the-trem thing without popping strings, and the tuning is more stable from
day to day and after huge dive bombs. *I really cranked up the spring tension, but I can't get the
thing to stop the other strings from going slightly sharp when a string is broken. *Oh well. *Also, my
unison or double string bends are now in tune.

thanks again!

I will post a pic if anyone is interested.

nuno, your pic link is broken

I could have swore that I originally posted this in the "Comments to Ibanez" section. *I guess I offended someone to get the post moved here. *Maybe my request is no longer considered valid since I got one from Rich?

ps: Ibanez guys should refer to Jemsite as THE users guide: bring back the BackStop, please!
I got mine a few weeks backs, it's was out of an original 87 Jem

However I've been looking for someone to aid me with the info of how to install this and set it up properly

of course there's the manual in the Ibanez site,, but im sure I need more than that to get it work right.

Can you help me with that ?

Thanks

I am mainly looking for more tuning stability and if possible, to not go out of tune on double stops or broken strings.

It can not do this, physically. Unless you can explain exactly how. None of these devices (except for the Maglok) stops the bridge from rising when bending strings. They work for tuning stability/return to zero, and string breakage. But they can not function in the opposite direction (the bridge rising while bending strings). We've been discussing in the other thread:
