can someone comment on my Jem FP issue

So after restoring this baby.. I noticed that the High e string slips off the fretboard... The frets are used well and near flat, so I assume that new frets might solve the problem, but the High e also seems to close the edge of the fretboard compared with other Ibanez I have..

Can anyone comment as to what might fix this besides a re fret ??

Cheers !!

Loosen the neck bolts and pull on the neck. Try to get it to sit more centered in the pocket and then tighten the screws back down.

+1

You may need to shim the side of the neck to keep it from slipping back.

Re: can someone comment on my Jem FP issue

Definitely neck not aligned. I had this on my RG 450 LTD after my oldest son jumped on it while in it's gig bag. Spent a couple of weeks wondering what the hell was going on with the string, then noticed it. Loosen it off, bump the neck over, and tighten when it's in place.

Re: can someone comment on my Jem FP issue

I think I know what the problem is.. The aftermarket clear pick guard, has a small hangover on the side of the heel joint that needs to move back over.. You can actually see where it is.

I thought of sanding it down before installing the neck, but just wedged the neck in and it was a tight fit but seems secure.. Now I can see its the issue..

Will remove neck, sand down the scratch plate and see if that works

Thanks all !!

Re: can someone comment on my Jem FP issue

That isn't the problem. I can see a gap there. The problem is the neck alignment. Just loosen the neck screws, pull the neck toward the treble side of the pocket and retighten the screws.

Yeah I cant actually do that because the clear plastic that is over hanging is stopping me from moving the neck in position...

So Im going to file down the over hang and line it up with the wood... which will give me the room i need to move it over to the treble side..

It sure does look like the neck isn't aligned properly.
