Cause of tuning woes sorted... Sanity restored

Since I've had my S1XXV it's always had this odd issue that on really heavy dive bombs or the slightest of pull-ups it would go out of tune. It would usually be accompanied by a worrying 'crack' from somewhere that I could never identify until I decided to look at it the other day.

I originally thought the locking bits on the nut were maybe slipping but on closer inspection I noticed the whole nut was actually rocking with movement of the trem. 'Oh f*%k' was the first thought. Untwisting my knickers I eventually found that the screws securing the nut to the neck were loose, apparently like that from the factory... Tightening them has restored my sanity and tuning stability. What a corker!

I just hope that two years of the nut rocking back and forth hasn't caused any further damage!

Who else has lost their marbles hunting tuning funnies with these double-locking contraptions and found something odd? Interested to hear stories!

Had the exact same thing happen on my RG1XXV. Luckily I caught it quickly because it drove me nuts too.

Yup, same here on a 3xxv. I used a bit of double sided tape under the nut that worked perfectly. I got lucky that I found the "click" the first day.....LOL
