Dimarzio vs Dimarzio IBZ Wiring Color Codes

I pulled the Dimarzio IBZ pickups from my RG927 as soon as I got it and replaced them with the Dimarzio CL and LF set. I replaced the leads color for color. So I put the new red where the old red was, black where black was etc. I've checked the soldering and everything looks good but somethings not right. A bit thin sounding, almost like I never have both coils on and a bit noisier than normal.

I assumed the color coding would be the same since both sets of pickups are made by Dimarzio. Was I correct?

Thanks.
Dave

Re: Dimarzio vs Dimarzio IBZ Wiring Color Codes

I don't know about the pups in the 927, but the old DiMarzio IBZ pickups I've had I'm pretty sure had the standard Ibanez red and white wires only, while any diMarzio you buy has the red, white, black, green, bare. Did you check the papers that came with the pickup, they're pretty good about telling you exactly how to install the pickup how you want. Or maybe there's only 4 wires, I don't remember.

All of the Dimarzio/IBZ humbuckers I've swapped had the same wire colors--new ones included.

That's what I found. I guess I have to check for any bad connections because they just don't sound good.

I'd say you've got a bad connection. DiMarzio uses the same colour codes across their pickups.
