Direct-mounted pickup mod

Hi all.
I have seen a lot of topics and listened to a lot of discussion about direct-mounted pickups vs. regular/pickguard-mounted ones, and that's why I decided to make a little mod on my RG.

It sounds a lot better this way. Sustain wasn't THAT improved, like others said. It makes a difference, but not a very significant one... (enough to be called placebo effect hehe).
Tone changes are very audible. It gained a lot more bass, but without losing definition. Since this guitar has a maple neck, it has a very bright sound, and now it got more balanced.

And BTW, it looks a lot better this way too . Pickup rings always seemed to remind me of brasses... ugh

PS.: The punk-heavy-dirty-metal-trashy sounding X2N pickup was removed. Thank God. Replaced with a SD JB.

Has anyone here ever done this mod as well?
Thanks for looking!
