Does my Neck Need to be Shimmed?

Here are the specs on my guitar:

Neck Relief - .004'' (.102mm) measured at the 9th fret
Low E action - 1/16'' (1.5875) measured at the 12th fret
High E action - 1/32'' (.7938mm) measured at the 12th fret
Gap Between 2nd fret when when holding down the 1st fret - .013'' (.330mm)

The reason I ask is because my trem is pretty far down in the cavity. When it is set up properly, it looks like this:

Right now I actually have it on more of an angle to allow for a bit more pull-up, even though it causes some slight tuning stability problems (but not much). Maybe the nut is too high? I wouldn't be surprised if it is. My strings are 10-52s and it's tuned to Eb at the moment if that makes much of a difference. The guitar plays great though and I plan on buying 2 more Ibanez guitars this year.

Re: Does my Neck Need to be Shimmed?

You dont actually mention if the guitar previously had a different gauge string fitted prior to your problem, or have you suddenly started to play using 'dropped' tuning?
Both can make a lot of difference to the angle of trem, as well as intonation, relief and action.

This could be as simple as adjusting the trem springs or a little more complex procedure to set up everything else.

If in doubt, take it to your local pro.

I do all my own setups. I set the trem up this way, along with all those specs. The trem is the same as it has been for about a year now. I just decided to ask this question now though. I'm just asking if it's normal for the trem to be this low with my specs.
