He's just sanding it no matter what tool he's using.
It's just a piece of wood, nothing special.

That's actually a safer method than sanding, as it's just mild scraping as opposed to abrasive wood removal. Just have to go light and be careful.

but the way he puts it under the frets looks scary.
im glad it is safe then cause it was cool to watch that ugly fin ish go away.
