Edge Pro to Lo Pro...

I'm guessing this will need quite a bit of routing to do (or mabye not, i just dunno).

How would i go about putting a Lo Pro Edge or Original Edge into a guitar with an Edge Pro?

I think it says on this site somewhere that there would be a need for a bit of routing going on.

Is the Edge Pro really that crap?

Re: Edge Pro to Lo Pro...

No it isn't. Quite simply that is bullshi*. The only real problem i can see is that is has no locking studs, a $30 modification. Most people just go ''oh it feels differnt so im just gonna change back to a Lo-Pro instead of adapting, its shi*'', but im not saying thats Chuds opinon. Why do you want to change it anyway? The EDGE-Pro is way more comfortable, and the saddle inserts give you better intonation, string life and sustain.

If you do want to change, yes there will be some routing required, and the stud will either have to be replaced, or have the locking stud mod done to them.

Are there any online stores that sell locking studs?

Re: Edge Pro to Lo Pro...

I've had no problems with my Edge Pro. I do have the locking stud mod, though.

One reason I could see for picking the Lo Pro over the Edge Pro is that the former seems to have an intonation adjusting tool.

Re: Edge Pro to Lo Pro...

I had to do routing when going from an edge to an edge pro. The edge pro was wider at the bottom, it was something like 5mm I took off the body wall on the trem arm side. I eventually put the original edge back in because the edge pro didnt perform as well as the original edge. I kept getting this buzzing vibration on the high e that made absolutely no sense.

My thing is; will converting one give to an origional edge more sharp pull up?

No I hugely doubt it. I tested what you were saying out on my EDGE-Pro and EDGE, and you were right, but they had the same pullup range for low B, EADG and only at the high B and E did it start to fall down to 1 1/2 steps. I can't explain why it would do 6 steps on the low B, and only 1 1/2 on the high E. But the problem could be fixed by routing more of the cavity out to allow it more range of movement, that way you could keep the awesome EDGE-Pro.

It would be a good time to pipe in Rich! Why does the EDGE-Pro have less pullup range on the high B and E?

Re: Edge Pro to Lo Pro...

The edgepro is a great trem system, i just find it alot harder to pull up on then other trems i own such as the Lo Pro.

I don't quite know why. I doubt it's to do with locking studs. The trem just doesn't seem to pull up as smoothly and doesn't have as much higher pitch range.

Not for me. I dread adjusting my Edge Pro because the complete PITA it is to adjust the intonation. With my OFRs, it's not that big of a deal because I have the intonation adjustment tool.
