Edge Pro Stability

I've developed a problem with my Edge Pro bridge that I'm at a loss to fix. Specifically when dive-bombing, the bridge does not want to come back into tune. It will remain significantly flat until I pull up on the bridge, after which it snaps back into tune more or less perfectly. It's an interesting problem to me, as I can abuse pulling up on the bridge to my heart's content without any tuning problems whatsoever. I can grab the guitar by the bar and shake it if I so desire and it will barely be sharp immediately after release, falling even more perfectly in tune after a moment of regular playing.

But when I use even minor depresses on the bar, my guitar will remain noticeably flat. When performing I basically developed a technique to end any dives with a quick pull up to help get back in tune. However, this is a little limiting from a musical standpoint!

I don't expect literal perfection, but as-is I don't feel comfortable using dives when recording or performing. And what's the point of a locking trem if you can't dive bomb? Some additional information, if it helps:

-The guitar is an RGAR42MFMT modded with the Edge Pro. I did not do the mod myself.
-I use 10-52 gauge strings and four springs.
-The trem cavity had to be sanded down a bit to fit the Edge Pro. The bridge consequently sits slightly leaning forward as opposed to totally flat, so that I can have more pull-up range. I could have it sit totally flat if I wanted, but then when pulling up the trem block runs into the wood and I can't pull up as much as I'd like.

I truly appreciate any guidance on this issue. Thanks in advance!

Are the trem anchors/posts the ibanez edge style posts? Or are they the original trem posts that you had before? The posts themselves could be worn out, or the knife edges could be. Ever so often my gotoh ge1996t floyd style trem does this exact thing. That's when I know I've gone too long without oiling the knife edges... A little 3 in 1 works fine. Try to put a drop there every time you change strings. Also the manual for the original edge says not to adjust the trem height when it is under tension because is can cause premature wear. Not sure if that's the same for the edge pro.

I have 2 guitars that have the original edge trem. Though I haven't owned them long enough for the knife edges or posts to wear, I do keep them oiled.

The bridge that was in your guitar looks a lot like the old TRS bridge that was used years ago. The newer one I believe is called the "standard DL tremolo". I am not sure how hard those posts are. You may need to replace them, the gotoh ge1996t is a drop in replacement for that bridge. The knife edges are similar to the original bridge you removed. The edge bridges knife edges are super hard so you may have worn the posts. If they are worn, depending on what blend of metals they are made of... There may be a brass colored discoloration where the knife edges ride.

Re: Edge Pro Stability

You're right, the old bridge was indeed the "Standard DL tremolo." The posts were replaced when the new bridge was installed and I have not adjusted the trem height since I got it. If I've worn the posts already... I don't even know what to say. Replacing the bridge was mostly for increased durability in the first place!

I will crack open my guitar tomorrow and try lubing up the knife edge. I've got D'Addario Friction Remover on-hand, which I assume is fine to use. I'll post back with results after I've tried it! Thank you for your recommendation.

Re: Edge Pro Stability

After following your advice, there was a noticeable improvement in the trem's performance. Thanks a lot! I'll definitely be adding this to my routine maintenance.
