Exclamation Edge Zero II INTONATION FAIL!

Guys, I need your advice urgently! Yesterday, I put new, thicker strings(11-52) on my RG and I can't seem to set up the intonation and the action right. Unlike the Edge Zero, I don't have the intonation screw and doing it manually with your strings on it is simply too painful.

The strings keep intonating sharper on both 12th and 24th fret and I already pulled back the saddles as much as I could with the strings on. I made some progress but still not enough.

Secondly, the action became too low after restringing detuning to C sharp. I don't have the slightest idea on how to raise the action on Edge Zero 2. FWIW it's a great trem and I won't give up so easily until I set it up right.

The intonation can't be set until the guitar is in playing setup, and your action is too low because you haven't adjusted the trem angle. That's where to start.

Re: Edge Zero II INTONATION FAIL!

Thanks Rich. So, should I turn the outer stud locks (3mm one) counter-clockwise to raise the action a bit and then set up the intonation? Do I also need to unwind the inner stud-bolts(2mm)at all and if I do which should I do first?

I think Edge Zero 2 is somewhat different from Edge Zero and I am afraid to damage the knife edges by not doing it properly.

Re: Edge Zero II INTONATION FAIL!

you are going to have to do a full set up on the guitar.

The trem angle isn't right because you didn't un-screw the claw in the back to lower the tension on the trem springs. You will need to do this because the string tension is still lower because of the lower tuning even though you put bigger strings on the guitar.

once you get the knife edges at an exact netural (knife edges exactly perpendicular to the studs) you can adjust the intonation effectivly. Just do it one string at a time.

if you need help, rich has some good info on his site at www.ibanezrules.com .

You can also do a forum search for more info on setting up a floyd.

Re: Edge Zero II INTONATION FAIL!

Thank you. Btw it's the Edge Zero 2 so I guess I don't have to unscrew the claw because I have the spring adjustment knob in the back.

If you pull that little intonation bolt all the way out you will see there is a second hole there farther back for you intonation needs.Found that out by accident.
