Ernie Ball/MM neck finish question...

Hello!
i really really like the nice satin finish on the Ernie Ball Music Man necks { don't care for the actual necks, though... }. I've seen on their website that it's due to a special ' gunstock oil and wax' finish. What the heck is this??? Can anybody tell me what supplies i need and what to do to get a finish like that of an EB JPM model? ANY help is appreciated!!!

It's a mix of gunstock oil and wax, the particulars are a company secret of course

interesting stuff. Do they apply it typically warm you think rich? I might actually try this. What im guessing is they get it just hot enough to melt the wax and coat the neck with a cloth? Something along those lines then the neck is sealed by the wax and you have that nice gunstock oil to keep you company lol

I don't have a clue, typically the process would be a guarded company trade secret

While were on the subject of wax and oil, Rich what effect if any does bore oil have on the back of a bare wood neck? Then again have you even tried putting it there since it would normally go on the fingerboard?

Never tried it, if I was going to do anything to the maple back I'd seal it up with tung oil
