Fine tuner problem on Edge Lo Pro

Hey guys,

Just bought a used BSB. Having an issue with the fine tuner on the D string though. It seems as though the string lock screw (the screw you tighten with the allen wrench after putting a new string in) has been replaced because it is a different color.

The issue is that the fine tuner becomes extremely difficult to tighten (raise the pitch) once you reach a certain point.

What could be the cause of this?

Thanks,

Jeff

To clarify.....

After the guitar has been restrung and the nut is locked down, the fine tuner is extremely difficult to turn once you reach a certain point.

Order a new saddle from Rich or replace the trem altogether with a new one.

I am not sure what the string lock screw has to do with the fine tuner.

Remove the fine tuner screw and check the threads. Is the screw easy to turn and then tightens up at the same point? If so then there may be damaged threads.

Try swapping out that fine tuner with another to see if it is the screw or the plate.

Assuming the fine tuner hasn't bottomed out naturally, here's a systematic approach:

-Is the replaced string lock screw too long and hitting the trem base plate? This should be easy to spot.

If not, then:

-Is the trem level? If it is tilted back, your saddle pipe might be hitting the trem cavity.

-If the above is not the problem, with the string loose, does the pivoting part of the saddle have the same range of motion as the other saddles? Make sure there isn't something jammed between the pivoting part of the saddle and the base plate.

- If the above is not the problem, can you turn the fine tuner through its full range with the string loose (i.e. not adjusted to pitch)? If not the threads on the fine tuner may be stripped.

This is off the top of my head, let me know if it is none of the above.

Re: Fine tuner problem on Edge Lo Pro

I will try some of these ideas out....

Just by looking, i can tell that the screw looks like it might be a different length than the rest of the screws. But it looks shorter than the others (as in closer to the neck).

Thanks

Re: Fine tuner problem on Edge Lo Pro

Just did a quick test and loosened the D string......with the string completely loosened, i still can't turn the fine tuner the entire way. It reaches a certain point while you tighten it and then you can't turn it anymore (a little more than halfway)

Re: Fine tuner problem on Edge Lo Pro

Is that saddle in a drastically different position, or about the same spot as the A saddle?

Different position. It's in the slot closer to the neck. All the other ones are further back
