Fingerboard staining

Hi, can I use this to stain my fretboard ebony black?

http://www.minwax.com/wood-products/...-marker#Colors

It seems very easy to apply.
Many people use leather dye with great result, but I'm kinda scared of ruining my neck.

Re: Fingerboard staining

Oiling a fretboard will make it look much darker too.

Re: Fingerboard staining

Just get a pint can of the Minwax--it will go on much faster.

Re: Fingerboard staining

You can use it without any ill affects, but it will not be permanent. Unless Minwax products are sealed the color will fade quickly. You should also know that if there is ANY lingering oils in your fretboard, that area will not take the stain as much as you would like...it will also rub off on your fingers in time.

Your better off using a good leather dye. You can get black from any local leather working/repair shop. It's usually very cheap......this is the brand I use.
