Fixing oval hole on a RG550 ('94)

Hello!

I'm trying to fix a RG 550 LTD with an oval hole where the upper stud is inserted.
The stud is moving and the guitar gets terrible out of tune and is unplayable.

Any idea to fix this? or do the guitar need some new piece of wood in the whammy area?

if you're a DIY guy that would be easy enough.
you should pull the stud anchor off the body, drill a 17mm diameter hole and flip a 17mm diameter dowel in with some glue, then re-drill a new hole for the stud anchor. it needs some precision.

or you can bring it to a pro.

Tony, Just quickly, Drilling the Hole out and dowelling is really the only obvious way to do it, I have known people to use filler but it only takes a few weeks before the post shifts again ...

Get a competant luthier to do the job, Anyone that installs trems should be able to do it, If you get stuck, Ship to me (get the shipping) and i'll fix her up, I hate seeing people in a bind

Regards

Rob

Thanks Rob!
it's a friend of mine's guitar, and I think he'll go to a luthier, if not I will consider your offer.
Anyway, thanks for your offer Rob.
