Floyd Rose Original or Floyd Rose Pro

Hi, I'm asking a few questions before buying the parts for my custom made guitar, one of the questions I have is which tremolo should I got, FLoyd Rose Pro or Floyd Rose Original?

I'm asking this for the original one not the licensed one.

Re: Floyd Rose Original or Floyd Rose Pro

I'd lean towards the OFR -- the Pro has narrower string spacing, and OFR parts are easier to get.

Re: Floyd Rose Original or Floyd Rose Pro

so the Floyd Rose Pro will need pickups with no F-spacing?

Couldn't tell you about the F-spacing. Here's a page that outlines some details:

You could still use F-spacing. It's just cosmetic anyway--the pickup poles line up better under the strings.

Not always true. My RG270DX has Duncan '59s in it. They are not F Spaced and you can really see as you get toward the thinner strings that the pole pieces do not line up. The very bottom E string is on the edge of the bottom pole piece. When I pluck up I get correct volume, but when I pick downward I lose a lot of volume on that one string. I can only assume it's popping outside of the magnetic field far enough to lose a lot of the signal. This probably depends on the specific pickup more than anything else. Personally I'd go F-spaced when it's called for whenever possible just to be safe.

You only need to ask yourself: do I like a low-profile trem or do I not care. The only reason to get the PRO is if dislike the whale-tail design of the Original. Quality is equal. PRO is not hard to find - ProRockGear, GPDUSA, eBay

Hey, you should measure the distance between the 1st and 6th string above the pickup area. If the distance is approx 48-49mm, use regular spacing. If the distance is approx 51-52mm, use F-spacing.

From what i know, floyd briges normally use F-spacing.

Hope this helps!

Yeah I also knew that Floyd Rose Original uses F-Spacing but not sure what's better for Floyd Rose Pro and I'm also trying to decide which one should be better for my guitar project.
