Floyd Rose on Strat Body

Hi guys, just installed a floyd rose on a strat body, trying to have a frankenstrat done, however, the strat body has no floyd cavity, like this one:

So the floyd lies flat on the strat body, the thing is, the string hight is to much, a really high action, I was wondering if there's a way to lower the strings a little bit?

Thanks!

You could go deeper on the shelf route (and drill the anchor bores deeper) and add a shim to the neck. Of course this depends on how high your action is now...........

Re: Floyd Rose on Strat Body

if it's a true "Frankie" replica, remember--there was no trem rout. Hence, the divebomb only we got with those early to mid 80s guitars.

But since you've already routed--follow Ryc's suggestions.

One thing, I didn't routed, I want a true "replica" the picture above is an example of what I'm trying to explain, there's no rout in the body of the guitar, but because of that the strings action are to high.

This should help you regarding the shim.

Re: Floyd Rose on Strat Body

Drill the anchor holes a little deeper. then push the anchors to the bottom. That and a neck shim will fix this for you. A neck shim alone won't do it.

Update:

Finally! I just tried with a piece of an old credit card but didn't worked, so I tried with a guitar pick and now the string height is perfect, thanks so much to everybody for the help!

I agree. I'm having a similar issue with my Yamaha RGZ 321P. I swapped the stock TRS-101 trem (Takeuchi) with an Original Edge. I had to sand the sides of the cavity a bit to make the trem fit the cavity but now I have 2 issues going on:

1. The string height is high
2. There's no space in front of the trem and, as a result, dive bombing is very limited.

Can anyone tell me if I could use a sanding bit for a dremel tool on my drill in order to add more space in front of the trem? I need about 1/8" of clearance so the trem can move properly?

Here are some pics:

Before (bone stock)

After (with Ibanez Edge)
