Floyd Upgrades Brass Block for Edge- just arrived!

Just got my FU Edge trem brass block upgrade. Currently my 550 is disassembled with all the hardware drying after bathing in WD-40 for the night (it's a 1990 that apparently had never been cleaned- yuck). Tonight I'll reassemble the beast and try out the new block.

The one thing I can say already is the weight difference is incredible. I'm sure the specs are on their website, but to feel the high quality bell brass in one hand and the original Edge block in the other- it makes the Edge block feel like a lego! Looking at it I'm thinking it's a wonder my RG even had the tone it did.

Can't wait to hear the difference. Love to hear from anyone who's already done this mod.

I bought a titanium first. But it was to long so the cavity didnt fit hehe. So then i downgraded to Brass block. The Strings get heavier tone to it, like aproaching string thru sound a bit...

Yes, I put one of them on my rg1570's edge pro, it makes the guitar more resonant. But when using distortion IMO it's more of "feel" thing, like the note jump out of the speaker a bit better.

Preliminary thoughts- the difference is subtle in one sense, but at the same time it's huge. The most noticeable change right away is sustain- the notes stay more present for longer, especially when bending strings. Added volume is also audible immediately, and a general "bigger" sense to all the notes, especially on unwound strings. The increased sustain and presence is especially apparent in the upper register, 12th fret and higher on the unwound strings, mostly E & B.

Haven't had a chance to really plug in so we'll see what benefit it yields there. Glad to have my axe back in one piece and to have this great upgrade!

I have one on my Edge 3. Aside from still being stuck with crappy knife edges, it transforms the Edge 3 into a pretty decent bridge. It's shocking how light and thin the stock block is.

I've put FU brass blocks on my Jem 7VSBL (Edge Lo Pro), RG (Edge 3), and a Kramer with an OFR. Also put one of their copper blocks on another OFR eqipped Kramer, and a titanium on a Strat. Absolutley love these things... prob the single best "must have" upgrade for virtually any guitar. Very affordable and worth every penny.
