Found a wiring predicament...

Hey I'm installing my Dimarzio pickups with this diagram as reference...

.dimarzio.com//media/diagrams/C.pdf (they wont let me post a link yet...ugh)

but I seem to have a problem with the single coil pickup. Theirs shows a red and a black wire coming off the middle. But my single coil (fast track 1) has all the same wires as a humbucker... is this because its a hum cancelling single coil or something?

Should I just wire it the same way as I did the other two?

Thanks

Re: Found a wiring predicament...

It definatly has to do with the fact it is hum-cancelling, maybe find a three-humbucker diagram and use that? I would wait until someone with more experience gives you advice as im no wiring expert, but that would be what I would do.

Re: Found a wiring predicament...

You can wire 'em as a single coil just the same way you wire your humbuckers except the coil-tap wires are not connected to the switch. Just wire green + bare to ground [vol pot], wire black and white wires, leave alone and wire red to switch.
what kind of switch are you using?

A dimarzio five way switch.

So I should put the red where it says to put the black on the switch. And put the Green and ground on the vol. pot. And put the black and white on which spot on the switch?
There is a little black wire it shows going from the five way switch to the vol. pot is that where they should go?

Oh I see, leave the black and white alone... do I at least wire them together or what?

i believe that's ground for the switch to the vol. pot... you can wire everything else there if it needs to go to ground... however, i prefer wiring the ground straight to volume pot
Fast Track red should go to the middle single coil black on the five-way.

that's correct... wire both white and black but don't solder it to the switch... tape it off and leave it hangin' :P

Re: Found a wiring predicament...

Well its done, but now I seem to have some major scratching sounds when I turn the volume knob. Ideas? Is it the what looks like a grounding mess on the back of the pot perhaps?

Thanks
