frankie with a few twists

After seeing the new cheap striped series EVH's fancied one, but why not make one with a few changes
Flame maple neck, reverse headstock (of course)

sapelle body blank, had some lying round, so why not use

body radiused, neck pocket cut 24 frets

started the recessed floyd route - who wants a trem that only dives..pointless

back route - angled jack

Re: frankie with a few twists

24 fret needs some better access - glue in the neck and shape the heal

bit of sanding and its time to paint. Black base, taped and painted white

tape off

then some pre red relicing

Re: frankie with a few twists

I don't know why really but I hate that you relic'd it...

Other than that it looks like it's going to be a monster player... very sweet

Re: frankie with a few twists

cheers guys, I'm still tempted to clear it, think its kind of perverse to put a thick shiny coat on something so wrecked & might dirty the neck or maybe just truoil it

tape off

more relicing and another mockup

I have to stop clicking on these build threads. It makes me feel useless! Looks good, I wish I was half as talented...

or maybe just a thin shot of clear to make it pop but it will keep the texture.

No its got a Mo' Joe in, it was built from what ever spare parts I had lying around. I just wired it up for a test & its a screamer!
I'll give it a quick clear coat at the weekend & see what its like, then work on the neck - looks and finish the setup, fret level etc

Re: frankie with a few twists

Body looks great and I love the set neck with the super radiused heel. But you need to do something about that super clean fretboard!
