Question fret buzz on high e-string - truss rod adjustment problem?

Hi,

I noticed some fret buzz on the high e-string of my RG1527M especially on the 3rd, 4th and 5th frets.
The action is really not very low, I'd say.
Is this matter of adjusting the truss rod? If yes, does it need to become more of a bow or more straight?

Thanks,
Lars

Hi Lars,
No, you don't need to adjust the truss rod. You don't want to adjust the entire neck for a single string.

How long have you had the guitar and how long has this been happening?? what are the atmospheric conditions like around you now.....humid,dry,hot....etc?

Also, has the guitar been dropped around the same time that the e started buzzing??

Hi,

Thank you very much for your reply.

I have had this guitar for 2 or 3 years now, it has never been adjusted in that time.
In my tiny music room temperature changes quite some, I guess. It gets warm in this room (also due to PC and amp being switched on), but it also cools down, so temperature does change quite a lot (not by too much though).

No, guitar has never dropped.

Thanks,
Lars

before doing ANY other work I would suggest that you try a new set of strings..... get back to us after that and let us know if anything changes..........

I just changed the strings, and the fret buzz is gone.
How is that possible? The strings I had on were not even THAT old (maybe 1-2 months).

I'm glad it's sorted out, but I'm curious to know how the (not so) older strings could have cause fret buzz? Is this normal? Even when the strings have only been on the guitar for 1 or 2 months?

1-2 months can be a long time for strings depending on how much you play it, how quickly they corrode, those "atmospheric changes," etc.
