Hey guys, i have a UV97BK and i have a problem.

On the Low B and Low E - the top lock has threaded (not the pad screws, where it actually screws into), i can't tighten it at all

now, i guess i have to get a new top lock?? and if so, how hard of a job is it to do it yourself?

please help

EDIT - sorry i posted in the wrong forum, it should be in the Tech/repair forum, id move it or delete this one, but im not sure how, sorry for being such a newbie

You will need to get a lock nut base at least and if I were you I'd email Rich (swirly banner above) for the part.
Swaping it is not hard at all, it can even be done without changing strings.
Just undo all 4 lock nut bolts all the way and remove them with the pressure pads, dive the trem half the way and stick a plastic bottle cap or something (I do 9v battery) under the trem in the cavity to keep it slightly dived.
Now unwind the strings a bit from the tuners (about a turn should do) and unscrew the top lock bas from the back of the neck.
Place the new one in and do everything back in reverse.
