Question how tight do I have to lock the locking nut of my Edge Pro?

Hi,

I have had some tuning stability issues with the Edge Pro of my RG1527M in the past, and I posted a thread on that on here then, and in the end it looked as if the problem was simply cause by me not tightening the saddles on the locking nut tight enough.

When I removed the pads I saw that there is a groove in the nut at the low B string (it's a 7-stirng), so I figured maybe this groove was cause by the string moving while the nut was not locked tight enough? Would this make any sense?

How do I tighten the nut so it's tight enough? If I insert only the long side of the allen wrench and turn the short leverage, will that be enough? Or should I in addition also insert the short side of the allen wrench and then turn the long leverage with like 3 fingers?

I don't want to over-tighten, but I'm not sure if I have been tightening it enough?

EDIT: could a mod correct my typo in the thread title? I tried fixing it, but it won't let me. Thanks.

all you will ever need to know.
assuming you meant how tight not (hoe tight), thats a different story all together.

Thanks, and sorry, I immediately fixed the typo after posting the thread, but it seems I can't fix it in the thread title anymore.....
Well, I have read Rich's article, I know his site, and there is indeed tons of useful information, and he say to tighten ti well but not to over-tighten, but that does not answer my above question. Thanks anyway.

Yup,
Weird thing I noticed :
Somehow the d-string does not get locked properly while all the other strings do.
I can see the d-string being critical with this on a 7-string since it's in the middle of a pad lock for 3-strings. So, would this be a common problem?
Or do I just have to tighten the middle locking pad more? I also checks the nut at the d-string for a groove, but it was really minimal.
And ideas?
