How to restore the shiny clear after light sanding?

I've had a couple situations where I needed to sand a small spot whether it be a neck repair, crack, etc. I've tried wet dry sand paper up to 2000 and it's still cloudy in the right light. I tried buffing it with some Novus and it seemed to get a little better but you can still see it. Is there a way to restore the shine other than spraying the whole guitar? Do you think I could spot clear with some Varathane and buff it until it blends? I know the clear will differ from guitar to guitar but lets say a modern clear for now.

Thanks,

I see Amazon has these for about $15 a bottle (16oz). Does that sound about right? Should I be able to get these locally for less or the same?

the 3M stuff is sometimes hard to find locally usually good auto paint stores will carry them, but in my experience when it comes to final finishing nothing beats 3M products.

Or you can buff it with metal polish. Autosol or Brasso will do fine.

I like this stuff from Stew Mac:

I'd recommend the set of all four small bottles. You'd need at least the Fine and the Swirl Remover after the work you're describing.

This stuff works better than any other product I've ever used.
