I put five truss rod covers in a baggie with their screws

I finally just accepted that I'm never going to put these back on my guitars. I work the truss too often. I've had the TRCs sitting on the edge of my work bench waiting their time to get put back on a headstock. Just over a year.

So I painted black the wood inside the truss rod nut cavity and put a little paint in the truss rod cover screw holes to help hide them. And now there's a little zip lock bag with five covers and 15 little screws.

Anyone else done away with their truss rod covers too?

I take them off as well, i just find them to be annoying if you tweak your guitar. and the guitar sounds just a tinsy bit better without them on. >: D

Re: I put five truss rod covers in a baggie with their screws

I had all of my truss rod covers off for years.
Then all the sudden about three months ago I was adjusting the truss rod on one of the new guitars I just bought, and I put the cover back on.
I though, wow that looks a lot better without all that wood showing.
So I decided to get all my parts organized in a little plastic organizer for nuts and bolts or whatever.
I couldn't believe how many parts for Ibanez guitars I have laying around.
I have a whole Ziploc bag full of colored knobs and pickup covers.
All kinds of trem parts.
There are like six 5 way switches and half a dozen pots, etc.
I have all these plastic cases for Dimarzio pickups.
There is a bunch of case candy and back plate covers.
I realized I had not adjusted any of the necks in so long that I should just put the covers back on.
So, I started putting truss rod covers back on guitars.
I think after so many years of being in a stable environment with the same brand and gauge for strings on them, they just don't move at all.
I had a pile of the truss rod cover to sort out.
Some of them had different hole patters, just a bit.
I had one I could not find the guitar for, I just found it two days ago, my RG7620.
I put the back plate cover back on too.
The thing is so mint I had too.

It depends, my Prestige has everything still on it.

I took the truss covers and trem claw covers off the rest of my guitars. Those are the guitars I'm always changing tunings and string gauges on though. It's just easier.

I almost feel like I don't have a clue. I say this because I rarely do any truss rod adjustments. Am I in the minority? My covers are always on. I guess there are many factors that could lead to truss rod attention, and my guitars are not subjected to most.

If any of them are Premium-style, can I have them? (Hoping it'd fit on Prestige.)

All the better for you. My climate changes enough that my necks will bow or straighten depending on the weather. I'll pick one up and start playing and think, "this feels funny" and sure enough my target action is either too low or too high. So out comes the truss rod wrench and that guitar gets a tweak. That one has to settle of course, so I pick up a different one. Sometimes the new one needs a tweak too. PITA sometimes.
