Do you live in a high humid area? That is a common problem in area's where the climate has a lot of humidity. I live in the Southwest (U.S) and the climate here is fairly dry. I have a Gibson L-5S with gold hardware and I'm not experiencing any rusting. Just a observation in case climate conditions weren't considered.
Yikes, thats a shame man, saddles for an edge are expensive too. I own a schaller gold finished floyd. If you wipe is down with some aerosol window cleaner it stops that. But the gold plated versions are definitely more prone to corrosion than black or chrome. My main axe had gold hardware for the longsst time. It made me get into the habbit of cleaning all the hardware after each playing session.
