Ibanez RG-3120 Setup Question (new to site)

Hi... i'm a new guy here. Recently I picked up one of the RG-3120's that went on closeout at the end of 2002. Upon much debate i decided that i'd take the plunge and setup the guitar myself. My friend, who is also on this forum (MercyfulFate from Guitar.com) helped me out quite a bit. I'm having one problem though. The D and G strings will not stop buzzing for the life of me. Even when I play them open they stlil have a little bit of buzz which is a big pain. I've raised the bridge as high as it can go, without helping. I've adjusted the truss rod quite a bit, but still nothing. Can anyone help me out or give me some tips? As a last resort I will bring it to a tech, but I figured I might as well try to fix it myself first. Thanks.

In this order

The nut is probably too low if they're buzzing open, and/or
The neck needs more relief [loosen truss rod], and/or
You got some resonate thing happening over the truss channel

can you just elaborate a bit on a few things? for the nut being too low, would that mean i need a shim?

also, can you explain the resonate thing on the truss channel.

If you didn't remove any shims then i doubt that could be the problem, as high as Ibanez nuts are. Otherwise, shim.

I should have given you the reverse order, loosen truss first.

The truss rod is a hollow channel that can reverberate in sympathy on some particular guitars for whatever reason.

yea I loosened the truss up a bit more tonight. I'm gonna give it another 24 hours because that seems to be how long it takes my guitar to fully settle. My guitar likes to resonate on just about every single note The D and G don't sound like normal fret buzz, which worries me. Oh well, i'll see what tomorrow brings.
