Ibanez RG + Floyd Rose - Action issues
I just recently installed an Original Floyd Rose trem on my RG, and I've been having a hard time with the action adjustment on this thing.
The first thing I did was search the web. I ran into a website with some info on how high to shim the saddles so that the trem would match the radius of the Wizard II neck. With multiple layers of copper tape, I added 0.4mm of height to the low and high E saddles, and 0.2mm to the A and B saddles. It got a little better, but not as good as when I had my Edge III tremolo installed.
The lowest I managed is about 1.5mm and 2.2mm from the 12th fret, on the high and low Es, respectively. The low E does not buzz at all, but the notes from the 12th fret up are very dull, the bends on the high E are somewhat choked, and still, the G string is floating way higher that it should. If I lower the action any more than this, high bends on high frets of the high E string choke.
Based on this, do you think I should:
Add more height to the saddles,
Shim the nut,
slightly adjust the truss rod,
or do something else?
