indentations - indentations in the Universe

Greetings:

I am a first time Universe 777PBK owner.
Smooth indentations have developed in the fretwire directly under the steel (non-wound) strings from frets 1 way up into the 20s. I trust my ear and it sounds just as fantastic now as it did when I first piloted it. Actually it sounds much better since I worked closely with most setup parameters except for truss rod adjustment.
The playability has not noticably degraded in any way. However, I'm concerned about entropy. The 'indentations' are noticable under close inspection by playing light about the frets. I can't fathom going thru the time/dollars/temporary neck loss of getting a new neck within the next few years.

Secondly, there is a slight chip at the 'leg saddle?'
After browsing the wealth of info. here at Jemsite I don't really have high hopes of a DIY for this slight problem. Again, here I'm concerned of entropy.

Please help and thanks for being here.

indentations

Hi dragon! It's nice that you play your beloved Universe so much that you're wearing the frets! *It's perfectly normal for the frets to wear and afaik, about all you might be able to do to slow the wear is to try and play with a lighter touch... *If playability suffers, you can get a good guitar tech to crown the frets - leveling them all to reduce any buzzing you might experience as a result of uneven wear - but since you are removing fret wire by doing this it further reduces the life expectancy of your frets. Unfortunately, I think pretty much everyone needs a refret eventually, unless you own a Parker Fly

As far as dings and chips in the finish, I always used my girlfriends' nail polish in an appropriate color to cover any exposed wood and help camaflage the damage - seems to work well enough but finding a good match can be hard...
