Intonation help needed on my Ibanez RG570

Hey dudes,

i gots a problem, my high E string, if i fret a note, say F# (2nd fret) and put distortion on it beats (wowowowowowowo)
if i hit the D note (10 fret) it beats quicker, and sounds slightly out of tune,

i thought intonation, so i checked the harmonic at the 12th and its fine, i checked the open E in the tuner, it too is fine, i checked the fretted E (12) and it was in tune but oscilating, then i checked the open E and although the tuner said its in, it had a beat to it still...wowowowowowowow....

another problem with the intonation is that the Saddle is as far forward as it can go, i think if i could shift it forward slightly it would be ok but i cant :S the only thing i can do is change my High E every 2 months, which does fix it...for a while

ive included a soundclip and a pic of the setup, at the end of the soundclip i compare the E (12e) to the E on the B (17) you can hear how the B string E is smooth where my 12th is yuk... any clues for other adjustments? Ps im not sure if this bridge is an original Edge or a LO PRO, can someone tell ?

cheers Jim

Has it always done that? If not, it may be your strings need changing. Even if it's a new set, you may have gotten a bad batch.

Strings get worn over time, and the intonation slips more and more the longer they're played.. 2 months is a long time out of one set of strings, be happy. Mine last 2-3 weeks, then they're gone..

BTW, you should only set your intonation with a brand new set of strings.

Jimmy,
get yourself used to check the intonation at 24th fret, or at 22nd fret if it's a 22-fret guitar.

That's just a great starting spot, it still has to be fine tuned, to the last fret of course

That would assume every guitar intonates exactly the same, and, every set of stud inserts is in exactly the same spot, not good to assume
