JS 'Black dog' finish on an RG

ok, ive recently bought a load of parts off ebay (RG body, neck, floyd rose, pickups ect) and im looking to experiment a bit with the body and come up with a finish that resembles satchs black dog guitar (on the back of the flying in a blue dream album) but in different colours.

Ive no experience in doing this, although i have sanded down a few body's ready for re-finishing, i want to spray the body in a light blue/slightly purple colour and then scribble over it in a rich purple (or paint patterns)

Does any one know the best way to acheive this result, and can someone give me a few tips on clear-coating this? Although ive read up on it i know this is the best place to ask for good advice!

Im going to post up a load of pictures showing the progress as soon as i start sanding, Thanks

Darren

I believe satch just took a silver paint marker to the finished body...

ive got all the parts and ive put the guitar together so im going to play it in and then start on the sanding.. im going to sray the guitar and airbrush on random patterns in different shades overlapping each other.. i think it'll look pretty cool when finished.

I think a sort of green/black Donnie pattern would look cool as well.
