JEM project - The beginning

I just got my JEM body from Mai-guitar.com. It's an alder front route. I'm pretty stoked. I just wanted to show off some poor quality pictures from my 1st generation Moto Droid.

With the gold Edge I that i got from Rich Harris over at Ibanezrules.com

Re: JEM project - The beginning

Here's some minor flaws that were either already fixed by Chris or need to fixed with a bit of wood filler. I don't mind though, Chris was a huge help and informed me of the flaws before shipping. Really a great dude to work with.

A little wood filler and a tiny knot in the grip that needs some filler.

A bit of filler down by the output jack route.

And some more on the upper horn.

Re: JEM project - The beginning

Just might need the tiniest dab on the edge of the top left screw countersink.

Some small bits of grain that may splinter back if I'm not careful. I'll probably hit that with some CA glue first. Then a bit of filler.

And the worst offender. The tip of the upper horn. Needs to be built back up a little then sanded back to shape.

Overall I'm pretty impressed for the price. Now that I already have the gold trem, Any ideas on the color? I was gonna do a white/tan swirl. I'm not sure I'm up to challenge on an actual guitar yet. Thinking maybe a sea foam green.

I think a real poisoned pumpkin.

Yellow and black with ooze dripping from the pickups and jack socket.

maybe download some halloween stencils and use those.

Re: JEM project - The beginning

Ok, now I'm angry. I had decided on reranches sea foam green http://reranchstore.stores.yahoo.net/seafoamgreen.html

But guess who just released his new Sea Foam Green JEM!!! >

Guess I'll go with my backup plan. ESP KH4/JEM Mashup. Black body and headstock, pearloid plastics, EMG's and gold hardware. (I know the gold hardware will get scoffs.)

+1 on the blue.
I wasn't sure what Daphne blue was so...

I'd go for a white pickguard though.
Whatever you do, let's see the pics!

Re: JEM project - The beginning

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. I was hired (for some reason) to do some minor R&D work for an up-and-coming guitar company and got side tracked.

So far, I've still not decided on a color. I have a few coats of sand and sealer on and may order another can as a few spots are a bit to thin for comfort. But I'll try to get back to it as soon as I can.

These are fantastic! I was gonna go with Sea Foam Green until Mr. Steve "steal-Rob's idea" Vai released his new model. I won't lie, I stomped around like a child for a while after I saw that.

But the lighter surf blue's are still on the list for possibilities.

I'm definitely stuck on the vintage Fender color pallet. Reranch has a pretty decent selection of those colors in Nitro rattle cans.
