Depending on where in the UK you are, I'd do it for free. What neck do you have?..

I need to dig out the before photos, but here's my DY neck after cleaning...

My SK fret board is filthy too. This maybe a daft question but, if you just leave the dirt on the fretboard forever and keep playing it , and not clean it like the guys in this thread have done...can it eventually damage the fretboard in any way?

If the clear coat has worn out I suspect that the maple could get darker at some point...

Re: Jem77 DY Maple restore

I cleaned my fretboard today with dunlop 65 polish/cleaner. Found out that
that i had to rub very long and hard to get rid of the dirt. Took one hour.

after it dries you take some steel wool and smooth it out. Mine isn't sticky at all.

Re: Jem77 DY Maple restore

That looks like it could be quite challenging, at college I remember a few guys taking on repairs from the public as part of our assesments and a few strats with similar wear-if we weren't refretting some could simply have the frets masked and lightly sand the board, going with the grain, and if the pitting on the board was a little worse, wed remove the frets and run a square sanding block along the length of the board, wouldn't want to try with that though in case the inlays got scuffed!? Probably worth a try filling the grain with wax before respraying. But you have done a damn fine job. picked up a 777lng a few weeks back(they dont appear often where im from dont know wether im going to keep it or sell it on once its been fixed yet-still cool as hell!) and this has helped me in deciding what to do-the string pitting was bad on the 3rd to 1st frets and the board looks like someone has dragged a knife along parts of it so need to maybe post pics on here when I attempt it before the refret and setup.
