Re: Jem77 DY Maple restore
That looks like it could be quite challenging, at college I remember a few guys taking on repairs from the public as part of our assesments and a few strats with similar wear-if we weren't refretting some could simply have the frets masked and lightly sand the board, going with the grain, and if the pitting on the board was a little worse, wed remove the frets and run a square sanding block along the length of the board, wouldn't want to try with that though in case the inlays got scuffed!? Probably worth a try filling the grain with wax before respraying. But you have done a damn fine job. picked up a 777lng a few weeks back(they dont appear often where im from dont know wether im going to keep it or sell it on once its been fixed yet-still cool as hell!) and this has helped me in deciding what to do-the string pitting was bad on the 3rd to 1st frets and the board looks like someone has dragged a knife along parts of it so need to maybe post pics on here when I attempt it before the refret and setup.
