Lo TRS II -> Gotoh GE1996T block height

Hi all,

I have an old 1996 RG450DX with a Lo TRS II trem. I am thinking about replacing it with the Gotoh version. I have no experience modifying a guitar so most likely I may get a local guitar tech to do the swap for me since I read it requires rerouting to use the new studs, but I need to get the one with the correct block height. The Lo TRS II block height is 35mm, but the Gotoh's available at 40mm, 36mm, and 33mm. Should I get the 36mm block?

Thanks,
Tang

You could play it safe & go with the 33, or take the chance & go with the 36 sine there is only 1 mm difference.

At any rate you can always leave the back cavity cover off anyway. But I thought the block length was 32mm

The measurement refers to the height. For example my 86 Roadstar 2 with non recessed trem has a much greater sustain block height than my rg520 also with edge but is recessed is much shorter. Obviously the width is the same as they are the same trem, just installed differently.
