Locking nut washers

Hello i bought a new nut for a bottom mount neck... it came with two washers. Is there any benefit to these like preventing cracking in the neck? reason i ask is because they seem to have spikes around the insides of the washers, wouldnt they dig into the wood?. you can look it up on a schaller locking nut if you dont know what i mean. Should i use these?

Re: Locking nut washers

They're actually supposed to dig into the wood. I've never liked the setup and always reversed them and put them between flat washer and bolt as a true compression washer.

Cool i will see if i can find some flat washers in the same size. Btw does the bolt screws have to be screwed far into the threads of the locknut to be stable and stay in place? I may have to get longer screws if that is the case.

Re: Locking nut washers

The more threads the less chance you'll strip the nut. Inferior nuts strip easy, good nuts not so easy.
