Arrow Low B on Universe won't intonate

I recently got myself a UV7PWH, and I've changed strings and set it up today. The guitar plays great, but the low B can't be correctly intonated due to the saddles limitation to move further back on the trem. This leads the low B to be a little sharp on all frets, just in tune when played open or with natural overtones. Although it's not all too bad, it's enough for me to want to correct it. The saddle is as far back as possible. The new string set is Ernie Ball 10s, with 56 for the low B.

Anyone experienced the same thing? Any help appreciated!

I'll see if I can get some pictures uploaded, if I find out how

There is another hole behind that first row.

Not sure what fret you're trying to intonate to but there should be zero problems with a 056.

Yeah it's weird! I'm intonating at the 12th fret: overtone/fret.

24 fret is way off when fretted, about 15-20hz, when open string tuned to B. I'll try to upload some pictures now.

Re: Low B on Universe won't intonate

You'd have to mve it even more flat for the 24th, that's no option.

I'd try a different string.

Re: Low B on Universe won't intonate

Are you checking and setting the intonation when the guitar is laid out or in the playing position?

Re: Low B on Universe won't intonate

Totally weird. I start hitting the Lo-Pros intonation limit on the low B at like 68+.

Re: Low B on Universe won't intonate

Most guitars have the nut placed a bit too far away from the bridge, which results in all the fretted notes being slightly sharp compared to the open string. This effect is increased because the low B is so sensitive to fretting pressure. Another problem is that the 12th and 24th fret harmonics are a bit sharp compared to the open string.

Because of the above effects, I'd try to intonate your guitar by trying to match the fretted notes 2nd and 14th fret, preferably with a really good tuner. This procedure is described about half way through this page: http://www.monteallums.com/eNut_Installation.html

Usually this procedure will get the fretted note pretty consistent along the neck, although the open strings may still be off.

I don't get it. The string is brand new:/ Well, guess it's my best shot, maybe the string's a one-off or something.

Re: Low B on Universe won't intonate

I've got the same problem with my RG2027. It has a 60 for the low B.

Gonna try to give it a new setup this week. I'll try the 2/14 fret method. Sounds good.
