Low Pro --- Minor Problem

When I'm playing the strings stay in tune but when I move the tremolo arm, even just a small dive bomb, the whole tremolo dives down with it and the angle of the tremolo changes to that direction until I pull it back up... Same thing goes with pulling up, it stays in that position. Eventually the strings go out of tune. How can I adjust the tremolo so that it goes back to being parallel with the guitar even after extreme dive bombs? Thanks and all help is appreciated.

Sounds like it's touching the pickguard.

Nope, it's not THAT bad. I made a mistake on the post earlier, I'll edit that now.

Anyway what I meant to say was that pushing the trem down causes the angle to be changed into that direction, the whole tremolo doesn't stay in that exact same place. The same goes for pulling it up.

Do you think something is loose somewhere in the trem that messes up the angle?

Ahh, and one of the more annoying things about this problem is that when I have the pickup switch in the center the tremolo arm, after an even small dive bomb, is at a low enough angle to touch it (the switch). I've seen Steve Vai do huge dive bombs to the point where his strings are loose to the max and afterwards, still have the trem at the proper angle, not to mention still being in tune. Hopefully I'll get my trem working like that soon.

If it's too low in the cavity the little saddle locking screws can bind agains the guitar's finish, or the wood itself if it's worn the finish away. Raising the action is not a fix for this, because now you have higher action. But it would tell you in a matter of seconds if that's the problem.
