Lowering Strings

Strings: .009 - .042

I have a 3/32" gap between the fret and the 12th fret and 1/10" gap at the 24th fret.

If I lower the trem anymore, I will get fret buzz in the 2-7 fret area. The neck has the correct amount of bow that it should and adjusting it any more would be giving it too much bow.

Is there anything else I am able to do to lower the strings without getting fret buzz?

Is the nut height correct? Other than that, unless you have some dodgy frets, neck relief and trem height is all you could play with - unless some setup guru thinks differently.

What should be the correct nut height at the 1st fret?

No easy answer to that as there are too many things to take into account. I refer you to the expert: http://www.ibanezrules.com/tech/setup/nut.htm

I removed the shims (2 x 1mm) and now it is great. I may have to raise the bridge just a hair to get rid of some very light fret buzz.

Thanks again for the help
