New pots/cap/switch for S420 w/ Dsonic/AN?
Hey guys! I'm a new Ibanez convert and have just bought an S420 that's on it's way (though I'll always love my ESP Horizon... sorry!). I have played a few Ibanez's before and like many others am not the biggest fan of the INF pickups so I went ahead and ordered a set of the F-spaced D-sonic (bridge)/Air Norton (neck) variety.
My question is what kind of pots/cap/switch should I get/will fit this guitar? I'm assuming I'll have to ream out the holes for the pots (I have a reamer) if I go with USA 3/8" sized pots like CTS so that's not a big issue. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna go with the typical orange drop .022 as they sound awesome, and almost wah-like it seems when rolled down. I was wondering about the switch though. Will a normal USA brand switch like the 3-way CRL switch fit in the weird plastic switch holder thing (3-way cause it's a H-H config, and I don't really need coil splitting/parallel/etc.)? Or do I need to get an import style switch, and if so which one?
Another question I have is about the D Sonic in particular. I play mostly pretty chuggy aggressive progressive metal/metalcore type stuff (think Architects/Sikth/Periphery), and usually in drop C (CGCFAD) so I'm inclined to think I should face the blade towards the bridge, though on the other hand I also think that Marco Sfogli's tone is amazing especially on the song Pretender (I would post a youtube link but this is my first post lol), and he faces it towards the neck so idk what to do! So many choices, and I am way too indecisive!
