Noisy neck evo-maybe silly ?

I've searched the forums here and through google however I cannot find out why my 7vwh has a noisy neck pup. The bridge evo is quiet as a mouse however the neck evo is more noisy than the single or in the 2-4 positions. Pup height isn't too high. Please help.

It's a 2003. A glance at the wiring looked good however tonight I'm going to take a close look.

I've thought of that however really don't want to due to reasons. I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and what might be the cause other than a faulty pup.

Dirty switch or broken connection along the pathway.
Sounds like you might have only one coil active since it is quiet in positions 2 & 4, that means you're in a hum cancelling config.

Bamm

btw, If you're up for it, I can eyeball it depending on what part of town you're in.

I've been out of town a few days. Thanks bammbamm. That's a very kind offer but I broke down and had the shop take a look at it before seeing your post.

As usual this forum has shown to be full of decent souls.

I have the opposite with my RG 7 string.

My bridge PU is noisey (when using high gain) but my neck PU is quiet.
I can tell it is the coil windings aren't perfectly matched so it doesn't correctly hum cancel.
The only solution I can think of is measuring the dc resistance of each coil and removing windings off the hotter coil to match up.

If your noise is real bad (like a single coil) possibly one of your coils isn't wired correctly.
